Kehoe's PubOn South Anne Street is a popular bar with natives (who steer clear of the “Bailey Set”). It has retained some of the fine features of a Dublin Victorian bar. The snug is worth peering into and even better in you can install yourself in there for your stay.
The snug gave sanctuary to the shy Victorian tippler (and the shy retiring tippler can still be seen there) The snug has its own serving area and service bell.
Mahogany drawers behind the bar once stored teas, coffees and other household provisions. The bar is, as it was a century ago and, as the insides have not been ripped out - like some many bars in Dublin. There is a great sense of history there.
At the back of the bar are two small ante rooms which are a much coveted real estate if you’re in for the evening.
It gets nice and busy at night and during daylight hours it’s a great place to hit the high stool and get stuck into the paper.
