Bruxelles If you go in, when the bar is full, you would never know that the bar was originally a baroque gentleman’s club. For that reason it’s worth two visits.
Go in, off peak, and you will see that the walls are adorned with hand painted tiles. On the window side are four large renditions of the four seasons. Opposite them, around the top of the bar, are fantastic images of the twelve signs of the Zodiac (the bar once was called the Zodiac – funnily enough).
Bruxelles is a late bar and it gets very busy as the earlier bars close. It is in fact three bars in one. Downstairs are two separate bars, one which is frequented by the biking/metal/trash metal fraternity. Upstairs at night is ‘old skool’ and reffed by a DJ so as to keep a finger on the pulse of the musical taste of the current crowd.
The building itself is fairly imposing and in a similar style to buildings found along Georges Street.
