While their 2014 debut album, The Pharmacy, was recorded in a secluded studio in the Stockholm archipelago, The Aviary came together in a constant touring climate. For Galantis, the key to their artistry’s evolution occurred while embracing change. Christian Karlsson points to an epiphany he had while visiting an actual aviary in Hong Kong that helped inspire the new album’s namesake. Galantis is the Swedish production duo, Christian Karlsson (also of Bloodshy & Avant and Miike Snow) and Linus EklÃ¶w (Style of Eye). The Pharmacy reached No. 1 on the Billboard Dance Chart and spawned hit singles “Peanut Butter Jelly” and “Runaway (U&I),” the latter of which is RIAA certified gold in 7 countries and earned Grammy nominations for “Best Dance Recording” and “Best Remixed Recording” via the Kaskade remix.

A key player in U.K. grime, Wiley is often referred to as the Godfather of the genre. His particular style ”Eski” or “Eskibeat” marked the move from UK Garage that once dominated the London Underground to a new, MC-led style that first dominated pirate radio and later took the UK by storm. Producer and MC Wiley came up as a member of Pay as U Go Cartel, and was later a founding member of Roll Deep Crew. Much of his most crucial early work as a producer came out as white-label vinyl releases and free downloads. His notoriety sprung from his underground activity, his sidewinder or early rinse sets with Slimzee, his lyrical clashes on air with other artists, his MC lucidity and his legendary output, there is no argument to the fact that he has been the longstanding figure-head of the Grime culture. Over the years his consistent work rate has grown him a huge and varied back catalogue, dabbling with releases on independent and major record labels alike and running a stylistic gauntlet from underground to pop. No matter what musical direction he’s travelled production-wise, Wiley is in his very essence, a living legend and an ongoing inspiration within the scene. His […]

‘Moment’s Passed’ is the new single from Dermot Kennedy which launched last night as Zane Lowe’s ‘World Record’ on Beats1. Kennedy crafts songs which are at once stripped-back yet explosive, his emotive vocal having the dichotomy of being both soaring and intimate atop R&B influenced percussion. His tracks have already amassed over 50 million streams across streaming platforms. As well as his online presence Dermot also controls a diehard live following, selling out shows across America and Europe including two upcoming back to back shows at London’s Omeara and two sold out hometown shows at Dublin’s Button Factory – with both London shows selling out in under 10 minutes.
Something amazing happens when Hothouse Flowers step onto the stage – something that has been shaped by over thirty years of singing and playing all over the world, yet no two shows have ever been the same! There is a sense of musical adventure, an impulse to reach new heights and depths in music where the unspoken aim is that the band and the audience become one and the world becomes a different place for a while. There is an unpredictable energy in the band that harkens back to their “Risk” days playing on the dancefloors of Dublin’s late-night clubs. They call upon their grand repertoire to create a show that is unique to the time and place. Improvisation can come at any point and allow the band express their brightest and their darkest influences. “Rock and Roll is not about safety or politeness, it is not about perfection either. It is expression and it is spirit.” Humour is also never far from a Hothouse Flowers night. They do not take themselves seriously however, there is no mistaking the musical integrity among them as they open up to each other in musical dialogue. Hothouse Flowers are a rock n’roll band, […]
