Dublin’s Ambassador Theatre presents Dinosaurs Around the World from Saturday 16th December 2017 for a limited time only. Dinosaurs Around the World takes you back in time on a dinosaur adventure and a tour of an Earth very different from today – a time before the continents as we know them existed, when lush landscapes covered Africa and greenery was the norm in Antarctica! With advanced animatronics, a multi-layered narrative, fossils, authentic casts, cutting-edge research and immersive design elements you’ll experience the Age of Reptiles as it comes to life! Dinosaurs Around the World invites you to grab your prehistoric passport to Pangea and discover how plate tectonics, land bridges, and volcanic activity allowed dinosaurs to disperse to all corners of the globe, giving each of the seven continents its own unique selection of these giant reptiles. During their 172 million year reign, dinosaurs adapted into a variety of forms due to the conditions of the areas in which they lived.  The exhibition includes examples such as the mighty T. rex of North America, the swift Velociraptor of the Gobi Desert, the massive herbivore Amargasaurus form the tropical jungles of South America and ten others! In addition to advanced animatronics, […]

John Osborne’s groundbreaking play, Look Back in Anger focuses on the life and marital struggles of Jimmy Porter, an intelligent, rebellious young man and his upper-middle class wife, Alison. Tackling themes of sex, class, religion, politics, the media, and the sense of a country stifled by an official establishment culture, Look Back in Anger is widely considered to have changed the course of English drama in the 1950’s. Award-winning director, Annabelle Comyn, takes a fresh look at this world-renowned, blistering play, at a time when class and gender politics are once again to the fore.

Late at the Gate Selected Dates from 23rd February to 24th March, 2018 Late at the Gate is a new initiative where mini-productions, platforms and post-show discussions run in parallel with productions on stage. These events aim to provide a forum for audiences and artists to respond to productions in the context of what is happening in the world today. The first in the series is a new Gate Studio commission for writer and performer, Emmet Kirwan, who will respond to Osborne’s Look Back in Anger, from the perspective of a young man living in Ireland in 2018. We look forward to a performance that interrogates the role of the artist in contemporary life. Kirwan’s credits include writing and performing the highly-successful play, Dublin Oldschool and the IFTA-winning short film Heartbreak (Warrior Films), originally part of THISISPOPBABY’s RIOT. For this performance, he collaborates with director Oonagh Murphy, who recently directed Tribes at the Gate, to create a meditation on politics, gender and class, asking can art truly affect change or opinions in the face of systemic inequality. ***10 performances only*** Writer and Performer ……………………..Emmet Kirwan Director …………………………………………………..Oonagh Murphy Duration: Approximately 30 minutes Show Times: Thursdays at 10.30pm:  March – 15th.
