The Last Ship comes to Bord Gáis Energy Theatre as part of its first ever tour of the UK and Ireland Tour. Sting’s personal, political and passionate musical is an epic tale of community, hope and a great act of collective defiance. The Last Ship features an original score with music and lyrics by Sting. Gideon Fletcher, a sailor, returns home from sea to discover the ship-building life he left behind in chaos. The yard is closing and no one knows what will come next. With the engine fired and pistons in motion, picket lines are drawn as foreman Jackie (Jimmy Nail) and his wife Peggy fight to hold their community together in the face of the gathering storm. Born in New Rochelle, NY, Don McLean is renowned for his multiple hits including American Pie (which was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame and named the fifth greatest song of the 20th Century by the NEA-RIAA), And I Love You So, Empty Chairs and Vincent. Awards and accolades throughout his career have included, being inaugurated into the National Academy of Popular Music Songwriters’ Hall of Fame in 2004 and awarded the BBC Folk Music Lifetime Achievement Award in 2012. In 2011 Don performed on the Pyramid Stage at the Glastonbury Festival  (“The veteran singer-songwriter’s take on “American Pie” , with multiple extra choruses, was another heartwarming, communal high” – The Independent). In 2014 Don performed for 30,000 at the Stagecoach Festival – one of the premier country music events in the US. According to the Daily News “the audience went wild, screaming, jumping, dancing. Even after the song was over, the audience still lingered, basking in the afterglow of the performance”

Kodaline are an Indie folk and rock band orginally from Swords, Dublin, where members Steve Garrigan, Mark Prendergast and Vinny May grew up. The group is completed by bass player Jason Boland, who hails from County Kildare. Originally known as 21 Demands, the band changed their name to Kodaline before the release of their debut album In A Perfect World in 2013. The record has sold over 350,000 copies worldwide and includes hits such as All I Want, High Hopes and Love Like This. Titluar track, Perfect World, is also currently used as the theme song for hit Channel 4 TV series Gogglebox. Their second album, Coming Up For Air, was released in 2015 and topped the Irish album charts.

Scala & Kolacny Brothers is a Belgian girls’ choir conducted by Stijn Kolacny, and arranged and accompanied by Steven Kolacny on the piano. They have made five studio albums (in multiple languages) starting with On The Rocks in 2002. Most of their songs are specially arranged renditions of songs by well-known musicians and bands such as Oasis, Björk, Radiohead, U2, Nirvana, Depeche Mode, Muse, Rammstein, etc. although they have also been very successful with their own compositions.
