Irishtown by Ciara Elizabeth Smyth (Rough Magic SEEDS Rehearsed Reading) 07 Feb
It is a week before the opening of a new Irish play on Broadway. In the rehearsal room, the cast are panicking. The writer’s previous play was a smash hit drama set in Northern Ireland during the Troubles. She’s been commissioned off the back of it and the producers expect another instant classic. Except her new play is about sexual harassment and seagulls.

Ru and Luke are throwing a house-warming. They intend to warm their house. However, their guests seem more interested in whispering in the box room than joining the festivities.
IN LiMBO | 13 & 14 Feb
Sitting in-between the two worlds of traditional and contemporary, IN LiMBO takes a journey where few have gone within Irish step dancing. The four live musicians and ensemble of six dancers have taken the basics of what makes the tradition so attractive and translated it into a new but still recognizable language of music and dance.

My mum has senile dementia. I made my last piece about her. But it wasn’t enough. I still have more to do and more to say. I’m worried that what’s happening to her will happen to me. So this piece is a memory exercise for three male dancers.

A nightmare from a disordered mind. In this haunted love story Roderick Ford explores the limits of our compassion and the heart’s darkness. Set in a zone at the margins of the monstrous and the human this gothic romance asks what relationships are permissible and who should be denied love.
