Calling all beer lovers! Today the Open Gate Brewery is announcing the headliner for its first Belgian Beer Weekend, taking place from 13 to 15 September 2018. An Ireland exclusive, visitors to the Open Gate Brewery will be among the first in the world to try an exclusive one-off Guinness and Timmermans collaboration brew.
Brewed to mark Guinness and Timmermans, Belgium’s oldest active lambic brewery, long-standing friendship; it is an extraordinary blend of three unique beers: Lambic, a wild-fermented Kriek; Guinness West Indies Porter and Guinness Special Export, a Belgium-exclusive stout.
The result is a unique dark beer with a subtle pink hue in the foam. It is full flavored and beautifully balanced with a delicious sharpness from acidity, sweetness from the cherries and finishes with a soft roast character and a clean sweet finish.
The Guinness brewers have also been experimenting with their own Belgian beers style specially for the events, with a Guinness Belgian IPA, Saison, Witbier, a Dubbel, a Tripel and a Blonde on tap. Each beer has been deliciously paired with hand crafted Belgian chocolate bark. Blonde and Witbier beers will be paired with dark and white Belgian chocolate marble with citrus, lemon peel and pistachio. The Guinness and Timmermans brew and Dubbel beers will be paired with dark Belgian chocolate with cherry and almond while the Saison, Tripel and Belgian IPA beers will be paired with white Belgian chocolate with banana, raisin, cinnamon and toffee. Completing the beer line-up are beers from famous Belgian breweries, showcasing Belgium’s rich brewing heritage.
The Open Gate Brewery Food Truck will be serving a Belgium-inspired food pairing menu featuring Belgian frites; spicy curried mussels; pulled ham hock and sauerkraut; crab croquettes and fluffy Brussel’s waffles – each dish designed to pair with one of the Belgian beers.
Alongside great food and beer, visitors to the Open Gate Brewery can talk all things beer with Guinness and Timmermans’ brewers.
