PALESTRINA CHOIR CONCERT CELEBRATING 120 YEAR ANNIVERSARY –
THE NATIONAL CONCERT HALL, WED 6TH DEC, 8PM.
EXPERIENCE the magic and sparkle of Christmas with the boys and gentlemen of the Palestrina Choir for their one‐night‐only carol concert in the National Concert Hall on Wednesday 6th December in the National Concert Hall, Dublin at 8pm. This joyous event is considered by many to be the highlight carol concert of the festive season and a sure sign that Christmas is almost here! There is no better way to capture the festive spirit than an evening filled with the classic and most loved carols in the majestic surroundings of the National Concert Hall.
This year marks the 120 th anniversary of the Palestrina Choir, founded by Edward Martyn in 1903 (also co‐founder of Abbey Theatre with W.B.Yeats, Lady Gregory & George Moore.) What better way to complete the anniversary celebrations with the Christmas Concert performance by The Palestrina Choir who have sung for Popes and Presidents. Overseas they have performed this year in the Sistine Chapel and Papal Masses most recently celebrated by Pope Francis.
Since the choir’s founding in 1903, The Palestrina Choir has become one of the most well renowned musical groups in the country both here and overseas. They are called upon to perform at high profile state and Diocesan events such as State Funerals and
in Áras an Uachtaráin.
This magical show will be conducted by Musical Director, Blánaid Murphy, produced by Noel McDonagh, accompanied resident organist, Aleksandr Nisse, Dublin Brass and the compere for this festive evening will be RTE’s Mary Kennedy. The youngest children, the girl and boy junior probationers will also make their debut singing
