Irish Modern Dance Theatre
Two compelling dancers: Mufutau Yusuf, an Irishman, born in Nigeria, and Salma Ataya, a Palestinian Dabka dancer, attempt to run 1,000 kilometres in circles and lines through the space, chasing dreams, memories and home. John Scott, creator of the stunning ‘HYPERACTIVE’ and award-winning, migration themed ‘Fall and Recover’, returns to Smock Alley with a wild explosive running dance: running away, running in circles, which become turns and then falls. Each fall and run generates beautiful, frantic wild movements, lifts, wild shapes in the air.
“John Scott’s work is a vital, fluent dance that admits no boundaries… Scott explores the body as an involuntary means of expression” – Thomas Hahn, Tanz Magazine, Berlin
“John Scott… dancemaker: physical, exhilarating, humorous and deadly serious” – Seona Mac Reamoinn, The Irish Times
“John Scott’s choreography becomes a celebration of dance as an art form” – Mary Brennan, The Scottish Herald
