Culture Date with Dublin 8 is a neighbourhood initiative, which aims to celebrate Dublin 8’s rich cultural, historical and architectural heritage while encouraging people who are living, working and visiting the area to explore what is on their doorstep.
This initiative offers a year-long programme of free, family friendly events, activities and workshops during a weekend-long festival in May and a host of free events that take place across the calendar year.
Culture Date with Dublin 8 also offers a workspace engagement scheme helping to connect people who work in the area with their local cultural heritage.Culture Date with Dublin 8 is hosted by some of the leading institutions in Dublin 8 including IMMA – Irish Museum of Modern Art, Kilmainham Gaol, The Phoenix Park, The Irish National War Memorial Gardens, Richmond Barracks and Goldenbridge Cemetery (Glasnevin Trust) with the aim to expand and collaborate with more cultural, historical and educational institutions in the area in the coming years.
This collaborative project and programme of events aims to connect with and amplify the wider efforts being made to regenerate the area, highlighting all the great things there are to see and do in Dublin 8 to locals and visitors alike. This project aims to put Dublin 8 on the map as a unique, sought-after, cultural destination, connecting communities to their national heritage and cultural institutions and establishing a new platform for cultural, historical and educational organisations to work together.
