Irish Women in Jazz presents: The Mia Byrne Quartet

A Dublin based saxophonist in the final year of her studies, Mia is performing regularly in Dublin and constantly looking for new inspiration. Exploring the full potential of her instrument, she is discovering all the possible ways she can communicate through the saxophone. She has been putting these ideas to use in her love for arranging and composing.

With Sidney Edge in guitar, Petar Krivitsky on double bass and Darragh Groome on drums, Mia will be playing some original compositions, and modern arrangements of some of her favourite jazz musicians like Charles Mingus and Thelonious Monk. The set will include a wide variety of styles, ranging from traditional jazz to Gregorian hymns.
