Letterpress Evening Course with Mary Plunkett
With support from the Night Time Economy Grant, we’re delighted to offer our first Evening Course. Running over eight evenings and using a variety of presses and type in the National Print Museum collection, students will be introduced to the craft of letterpress. The course will begin with an introduction to setting type by hand with metal and wood type, hand-inking and health & safety. Students will get a chance to work on the Vandercook, Farley and Albion printing presses, under the guidance of tutor Mary Plunkett, to create group projects of a simple book and poster. They will then be able to propose a personal project and work under their own initiative to print their piece in a small edition. All materials are provided.
