Join soprano Eve Stafford and pianist Catriona McElhinney Grimes for a nostalgic journey that celebrates the enduring power of art song and the personal ties that bind generations. Curated in memory of her grandmother Barbara Hickey (1926–2022) this recital is a heartfelt exploration of memory and legacy.
The program features timeless gems by Purcell, Handel, and Mozart, alongside the sweeping romanticism of Ivor Novello and Eric Coates. A central highlight of the afternoon is a special performance of The Moon, a contemporary setting of Barbara’s own poetry composed by Fiona Linnane. From the operatic charm of Le Nozze di Figaro to the Victorian elegance of Marble Halls, this concert invites you to pause and find solace in “music for a while.”
