Painting Air by John O’Flynn
SO Fine Art Editions presents ‘Painting Air’, a solo show by John O’Flynn 02 July – 30 July, 2026 SO Fine Art Editions is delighted to present a solo exhibition by artist John O’Flynn. Following his inclusion in our group show New Wave and his 2025 solo presentation Souvenirs at Flux Studios, Dublin, O’Flynn brings a new body of work to the gallery entitled ‘Painting Air’. The semi-abstract paintings in this exhibition draw inspiration from significant moments from O’Flynn’s everyday life. He describes them as “moments where I found peace, excitement, hope and the ineffable.”
His work fuses reality, memory and imagination, portraying scenes that reflect both the world around us and the world within us. The resulting paintings evoke the magic and elusiveness of fleeting experiences, preserving emotions and atmospheres that often resist description.
They invite the viewer to consider the challenge of capturing the invisible: the warmth and coolness of the air and quality of light that surround and animate the physical world. His practice draws on influences from both Impressionism and Graffiti, which he has refined into a distinctive and recognisable visual language. John O’Flynn (b. 1994) is an Irish artist from Galway, now based in Dublin.
His painting style, tools and techniques are informed by his background in Graffiti, Street Art and Industrial Design. His work explores themes of the natural and urban landscape, light, introspection and the rhythms of everyday life. Through painting, O’Flynn reflects on these areas of interest while creating points of connection with viewers. Working primarily in acrylic, he has cultivated a diverse and loyal collector base, with works held in collections across Europe, North America, Asia and Australia.
This exhibition is part of ‘Dublin by Dusk’, a new citywide initiative bringing together arts and culture, experiences, hospitality and shopping on the last Thursday of each month.
