Ryan Adams first tasted musical success as part of the alternative groups The Patty Duke Syndrome and Whiskeytown. Following the bands’ demise, he wasted no time in launching a solo career.
His debut solo album Heartbreaker received rave reviews from critics and a ringing endorsement from Elton John. His follow-up Gold moved away from his country influences and the single New York, New York was rotated heavily on radio following the September 11 attacks.
A prolific songwriter, Adams has continued to regularly release music, both as a solo artist and in collaboration with stars such as Emmylou Harris, Beth Orton, Evan Dando and Melissa Auf Der Maur.
