Sigur Rós have announced a raft of UK and European dates added to their 2022 World Tour, beginning in Lisbon, Portugal on 28 September and running through to a massive homecoming date at Laugardalshöllin, Reykjavík, on 25 November. The band will also perform at 3Arena, Dublin on 17 November. The new shows follow last month’s announcement of dates in Mexico, Canada and the United States this Spring and Summer. The tour will be the band’s first in almost five years.
Sigur Rós are in the process of writing and recording their first new studio album since 2013’s Kveikur and will air new songs at the shows, alongside material drawn from their acclaimed 25 year discography. Sigur Rós founding members Jónsi and Georg Holm are joined in the studio and on tour by former member Kjartan Sveinsson, who is rejoining the band almost a decade after stepping away to focus on other projects.
