Suite Dreams, Irish Youth Baroque Orchestra
The Irish Youth Baroque Orchestra returns to The Pepper Canister Church, Dublin City on Saturday, 11 July under the direction of Claire Duff.
Set in one of Dublin’s most unique and atmospheric venues, Suite Dreams performed by the Irish Youth Baroque Orchestra (IYBO), features some of Ireland’s finest young string, woodwind, and harpsichord players.
The programme includes:
- Purcell Suite from The Fairy Queen
- Marcello – Oboe Concerto in D minor, S.Z799
- Telemann – Ouverture, Burlesque de Quixotte TWV 55:G10
From the dreamlike world of The Fairy Queen, with its fairy dances, enchanted scenes and midsummer romances, to Telemann’s playful musical portrait of Don Quixote the programme captures the energy and rich imagination of Baroque music.
This summer concert marks the culmination of a week-long course in historical performance, bringing together young musicians from across Ireland to study and perform Baroque repertoire in historically informed styles.
Whether you are passionate about Baroque music or looking to experience a memorable evening in Georgian Dublin, this concert offers the opportunity to hear outstanding young musicians perform timeless music under the iconic dome of the affectionately named ‘Pepper Canister’ in a venue known for its brilliant acoustics.
The Irish Youth Baroque Orchestra is a collaboration between the Irish Baroque Orchestra (IBO) and the Irish Association of Youth Orchestras (IAYO).
