To Star the Dark | Chamber Choir Ireland

Gabriel Crouch makes his debut as Artistic Director of Chamber Choir Ireland in To Star the Dark.

In partnership with Finding a Voice festival, the programme spotlights women composers of the 21st century.

It features works by some of the brightest lights in choral music today, including Joanna Marsh, Ayanna Woods, Emma O’Halloran, and the world premiere of a new commission by Irish composer Amanda Feery.

Feery’s new work is a setting of Sólás by Irish poet Doireann Ní Ghríofa. It depicts a visit from a sedge-warbler which, in Irish folklore, is believed to carry the soul of a child who has passed on, returning to comfort their mother with song.
