First performed in Paris in 1840, GISELLE is universally considered the world’s most romantic ballets. The story revolves around a peasant girl, Giselle, who dies of a broken heart after discovering that her lover is betrothed to another. Her cause is taken up by The Willis, a group of mystic and supernatural spirits of maiden girls, who obtain revenge by literally dancing men to death. Led by Myrtha, The Queen if the Willis, they are ruthless and hateful of men because they have all themselves died of a broken heart. Queen Myrtha summons Giselle from her grave and they target Giselle’s lover for death, but Giselle’s great love eventually frees him from their grasp. The Tchaikovsky Perm State Ballet’s traditional production, sympathetically accompanied by the wonderful RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra to Adolphe Adam’s original score, will leave a lasting impression. This is one of the truly great ballets!

A much acclaimed recording artist who released his Mercury Prize nominated debut, Here Be Monsters on Heavenly Records in 2001, in recent years his has gained acclaim for his songwriting for a variety of artists. The album, which follows Furnaces, his 2016 album for Polydor, sees Ed Harcourt add another new string to his multi-faceted musical bow. Something of a left-turn after its busy, big-screen, somewhat under-appreciated predecessor, it sees the supremely versatile singer, writer and all-round instrumentalist bravely eschew vocals and lyrics and create a soft-spoken yet emotionally loquacious group of piano-led instrumentals, as if sound-tracking an as yet invisible film, or responding to today’s ferocious shouting match of a planet with a mesmerizing, meditative calm.

Rescheduled to 3rd December Golden is Kylie Minogue’s 14th studio album, and it’s the result of an intensive working trip to the home of country music, Nashville. The album is a vibrant hybrid, blending her familiar pop-dance sound with an unmistakeable Tennessee twang. Kylie will, it’s scarcely believable, turn 50 this year. This looming milestone is partly behind the album’s title, and the title track. “I had this line that I wanted to use: ‘We’re not young, we’re not old, we’re golden’ because I’m asked so often about being my age in this industry. This year, I’ll be 50. And I get it, I get the interest, but I don’t know how to answer it. And that line, for my personal satisfaction, says it as succinctly as possible. We can’t be anyone else, we can’t be younger or older than we are, we can only be ourselves. We’re golden,” she explains. “And the album title, Golden, reflects all of this. I liked the idea of everyone being golden, shining in their own way. The sun shines in daylight, the moon shines in darkness. Wherever we are in life, we are still golden.” One of the album’s shiniest moments is Raining […]

The Fratellis EP was released April 3, 2006, featuring the tracks Creepin’ Up The Backstairs, Stacie Anne and The Gutterati”. Due to its limited availability, copies can now be found reaching more than £30 on eBay. Different sources tell of different origins of the band’s name. Some claim it derives from the 1985 movie The Goonies; however, the band denied this live on air on BBC Radio 2’s Jonathan Ross Show on 9 September 2006. Others tell of the band forming from a four-piece band who would play at weddings. They were nominated for Best Breakthrough Band in the 2007 Brit Awards.

Little Green Cars were still in their teens when they were spotted and signed to Glassnote and recorded their widely-acclaimed 2013 debut Absolute Zero with producer Markus Dravs. That album changed their lives, taking the five former school friends on tour everywhere from Europe and Australia to Russia and the States, which they criss-crossed six times in three years. Now all in their early 20s, Little Green Cars are both a different band and the same five friends who met every Sunday aged 15 in singer Stevie Appleby’s garden shed to start writing songs. Those changes, their shared experiences and individual ups and downs are candidly documented in Ephemera, a gorgeous, grown-up album about, well, growing up.

Strikingly individual, twin brothers Craig and Charlie Reid have over the years enjoyed huge successes across the globe. They have carved a niche for themselves where pop, folk, new wave and punk collide as the emotional honesty, political fire, wit and sing-along raucousness of their songs and their extensive touring has enlightened and entertained fans new and old. 2007 saw The Proclaimers play their biggest ever UK tour and collaborate for Comic Relief with Peter Kay and their number one fan Matt Lucas, to top the charts with their classic anthem ‘I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles)’.

Snow Patrol’s album Wildness, their first album in seven years, is out now. Wildness taps into something raw and primitive. Lead-singer and songwriter Gary Lightbody says of the album: “There are many types of wildness, but I think it can be distilled into two: the wildness of the modern age, all its confusion, illogic and alienation and a more ancient wildness. Something primal, alive and beautiful that speaks to our true connectivity, our passion, our love, our communion with nature and each other. This is the kind of wildness the album is centered around. The loss of it. Trying to reconnect with it. To remember it.” Purchase Wildness on all formats here. To celebrate the release of Wildness, Snow Patrol has debuted new music videos for “A Youth Written In Fire,” “Life and Death,” “Wild Horses,” and “A Dark Switch.” The band has previously released music videos for “Empress” “What If This Is All The Love You Ever Get?,” “Life On Earth,” and “Don’t Give In,” and you can watch them all here. Additionally, Ed Sheeran showed his support in an Instagram video here. Snow Patrol recently returned to “Later… With Jools Holland” where they debuted a live rendition of […]

The Stunning formed in 1987 in Galway, Ireland. They had their first top twenty single a year later and two more top ten hits before their debut album hit the number one spot in 1990 and stayed there for 5 weeks. Over the next year or so, there were four more hit singles, followed by another number one album. They released a live album in ’93 before splitting up a year later. After an absence of almost ten years, the band reformed for an 18-date tour, which turned out to be one of the highest grossing tours in Ireland of 2003. Just a few years ago, around 30,000 people turned out to see them play a free concert in their old hometown of Galway city, a testament to the timeless quality of their music.
