At our weekly drop-in workshop, children and their parents/guardians/carers are encouraged to work together on creative projects. Drop-in and stay for as long (or as little!) as you wish. These workshops are suitable for children of all ages, and take place in the Maples and Calder Creative Space in our Atrium. These free workshops take place weekly, every Sunday from 11.30am. Join us for a special tour designed for children and their guardians, parents and carers. Our aim is to make the artworks fun and engaging for kids, and to welcome families and visitors of all ages and encourage them to feel comfortable in the Gallery. A Military ceremony will place outside the GPO, Dublin on Easter Sunday 21st April, 2019 to mark the anniversary of the 1916 Easter Rising. The Defence Forces have upwards of 350 troops from all formations on parade to mark this occasion. Representatives from across the Defence Forces are involved in the ceremony, including Reserve Defence Forces, the 1 Bde and 2 Bde, as well the Defence Forces Training Centre, the Air Corps and Naval Service. Musical accompaniment for the ceremony is provided by a combination of the Defence Forces Brass, Reed and Pipe Bands.

Dig for ancient Viking treasure at the Dublinia Big Dig Put your hard hat on and get your hands dirty to experience life as an Archaeologist. The Big Dig is all included in your entrance fee to Dublinia! So come and join the Big Dig in the grounds of Dublinia from the 24th to the 27th of April, where visitors will get to take part in our very own simulated archaeology excavation. Families, children, and guardians of all ages are invited to join us to explore our current exhibition staring forms through art activities, creative exercises and personal responses. Led by artist and educator Sophie Behal, participants will receive a child-friendly tour of the exhibition and explore and play with a range of materials through which you can respond to the exhibition, or work on your own personal piece of art! Sophie Behal is a visual artist working mainly in sculptural installation, which can include audio, text, photographic and performative elements. Her work is characterized by attention to the inherent qualities of materials and their relationship to time. It strives to sit in a space between thinking, language and making.
