Returning to Dublin for the second year running, the 14th annual Paddling Film Festival, will drop in on May 30th at the Lighthouse Cinema. All funds raised will be donated to the RNLI. Audiences will see exciting whitewater action, sea kayakers exploring remote coastlines, international river travel films, and motivating environmental documentaries. Attracting film fans from all walks of life as well as paddlers and outdoor enthusiasts, audiences can expect a fun, social and inspiring evening of compelling films. Festival goers will also enjoy a meet and greet with an RNLI crew member and can enter raffles to win great paddling prizes and experiences. The Paddling Film Festival World Tour is produced by Rapid Media and presented in the Lighthouse cinema, Market Square, Smithfield, Dublin 7 by on Thursday May 30th at 8pm. Tickets €12.50
Robo Riots brings famous robots from TVs Robot Wars to battle it out live in the National Show Centre, Swords, Co. Dublin. This is the first full length heavyweight combat robot tournament of its kind in Ireland! Featuring robots from the hit TV show Robot Wars where every live event session promises metal-munching, head-to-head, monster matchups that fans have always dreamt of. Each live session will feature one-of-a-kind fights containing multiple main events between legendary Robot Wars All-Stars; Undercard fights from incredible newcomers; and jaw-dropping exhibition matches. There will also be celebrity robots like R2-D2, a Dalek, a minecraft creeper and AL-1X – our very own z-list celebrity robot. The Vhi Women’s Mini Marathon, an annual 10k charity road race, occurs each June bank holiday weekend in Dublin and is the largest Women’s event of its kind in the world. In 1983, the inaugural event had 9,000 women entering and the event reached a record attendance in 2014 with 41,006 women taking part. The event has grown in popularity as women have taken more interest in their own health and fitness. A staggering 1 million women have entered the event over its 36 years. Hundreds of charities are also big winners. The women decide themselves which charity they will support and many local causes gain vital funds from the event. It is now the largest one day charity event in the country.
Union Cup is Europe’s biggest LGBT+ inclusive rugby tournament. The two-day festival of rugby will be held this June 7th-9th, at Dublin’s DCU with an expected 45 teams from 15 countries to participate, making it the biggest Union Cup to date. Women’s Tournament Union Cup Dublin will host a dedicated women’s tournament for the first time, with teams competing for the Union Cup Women’s Cup. As an inclusive tournament, Union Cup welcomes both IGR and non IGR teams teams and players for this inaugural tournament. About Union Cup Union Cup is a biennial LGBT+ inclusive rugby tournament. The aim is to make sporting accessible for LGBT individuals to promote health and wellbeing through physical activity. The inaugural Union Cup was hosted in 2005 and was a tournament between 7 teams. It has since grown to include over an anticipated 45 teams in 2019. Host team, Emerald Warriors, won the bid to host the tournament in 2017.

Offering four days of open-sea racing by Irish and international teams in one of the most picturesque areas of Dublin Bay, the Volvo Dún Laoghaire Regatta 2019 is a must-do. Welcoming back many old friends from previous regattas, as well as plenty of newcomers, Dún Laoghaire will be the centre of great racing and a lively social scene, with entertainment for all ashore. The sea will be carpeted with up to 470 bobbing boats; cruisers, keelboats and dinghies from all over the UK and Ireland will be hitting the water. For Dubliners who haven’t found their sea legs, a trip out to the south coast during the regatta will mean a fun crowd, stunning views, great food and family events all along the water.
